Content

  • Perception - How do we Interpret our World?

    In this block we will explore what happens between our eyes and brain and how “seeing” actually happens, as well as the visual cues and constancies we use, and not forgetting optical illusions, why they trick us and how they are explained!

  • Course Objectives:

    To understand the difference between sensation and perception.

    To explore visual cues that help us perceive.

    To understand how optical illusions work.

    To consider the nature / nurture debate on how we are able to perceive our world.

    To explore factors that affect our perception.

Hi, I´m Mel and I teach a few things in the hub; psychology, sociology, ethics & philosophy, globetrotting, wild about animals and number ninjas! I´ve been teaching for 15 years and have taught from ages 7 to 18 hence the diverse range of subjects! My main passion is psychology as this was my degree and I find it fascinating to learn about human behaviour and love passing that onto the student. My love of animals comes from the growing brood of fur-babies I´ve fostered or adopted – I currently have 6 cats and 3 dogs (who occasionally appear in the background of a lesson!). I live in Spain with my partner and 6 year old daughter, Olivia. I love to make my lessons as engaging and interactive as possible to make lessons enjoyable and memorable, and hope to see you in one of my classes soon!

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration. You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class. The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient
