  • Learning Show Description

    This block works brilliantly as a stand-alone introduction to cells and microscopy. It also links well with future biology topics including the human body, genetics, microorganisms, diffusion and disease.

    What are living things actually made from? In this hands-on biology block, learners will explore the tiny microscopic world of cells 🧫🔬

    We’ll investigate the seven life processes, compare plant and animal cells, discover strange unicellular organisms and learn how substances move in and out of cells through diffusion.

    This block includes microscope work, model making, practical investigations and plenty of interactive activities to help learners truly understand what is happening inside living things not just memorise diagrams from a textbook.

    Perfect for curious learners, home educating families and anyone wanting a strong foundation in biology and GCSE-style science skills.

    Learners will:

    Explore the seven life processes all living things demonstrate

    Identify the key parts of plant and animal cells

    Learn about at least two unicellular organisms

    Use a microscope to produce scientific drawings

    Describe the factors that affect diffusion

    Create models of cells to support understanding

Science Tutor

My name is Carrie Ann Booth 👩🏼‍🔬🧪💥 and I teach Primary Science, KS3 Science, IGCSE Biology, IGCSE Chemistry and IGCSE Marine Science.

I have a degree in Biochemistry with Science Communication and over 20 years of experience teaching science in schools, online, and through hands-on workshops and shows. Alongside teaching in the hub, I am also the founder of The Science Booth, where I bring science to life for thousands of children each year through explosive demos, practical investigations, and unforgettable learning experiences.

My teaching style is all about “serious science learning… but not too serious!” I believe children learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, get messy, explore ideas, and see the real-world magic of science for themselves. My lessons are energetic, engaging, and full of curiosity, creativity, and wow moments.

Science matters because it shapes the future. Today’s curious children could become tomorrow’s:

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
