• Description: Coding - Adventures in Animated Storytelling with Scratch. Embark on an exciting journey with 'Animated Storytelling in Scratch' - an engaging course designed to introduce children to the exciting world of coding and animation. Through the power of Scratch, a user-friendly visual programming language, children will embark on a journey where they will learn how to code and create their own animated stories from scratch! Children will learn the basics of animation, explore sprite creation, customisation and the fundamentals of motion. They will bring their sprites to life by making them move, glide, and change costumes, setting the foundation for their animated storytelling adventure. Discover how to create custom backgrounds and make sprites interact with each other through events, sensing blocks, and broadcasts, adding depth and interactivity to their animations. We'll add dialogue and narrative elements using speech bubbles, animate text and give voices to the characters as well as sound effects and music to enhance the overall experience of their stories. Through the use of variables, conditionals, and control blocks, they will gain the skills to structure their stories, ensuring a captivating and engaging sequence of events. With a focus on creativity, problem-solving and storytelling, these sessions will empower children to become digital storytellers, combining their imaginations with coding skills to create captivating and interactive animated narratives. No prior coding experience is required, making this course accessible and enjoyable for children with varying levels of familiarity in Scratch coding and we welcome back anyone who has previously participated as there is always something new to learn.
