  • Macbeth

    Block 1 of 2 - second part to follow in next block

    “Methought I heard a voice cry ‘Sleep no more!
    Macbeth doth murder sleep.”

    Shakespeare’s dark tragedy tells of ambition and guilt amidst a background of regicide, violence and the supernatural. When a trio of witches tells returning hero warrior Macbeth that he is fated to become King of Scotland, he attempts to forge his own destiny. Aided and encouraged by his wife, he embarks on a guilt ridden reign of terror.

    One of the most popular GCSE English Literature options, used by all major exam boards, this course will cover the whole play and discuss several exam questions and how to tackle them.

  • This play consists of five Acts and in order to be able to cover as much of it as possible, we are covering it over two blocks with a total of ten sessions, with a mixture of film clips, script reading and discussion about language, themes and characters. The script is freely available online.

    NOTE: This is Block 1 of 2.

    Course Objectives:

    To understand plot, structure, characters, themes and language and to prepare for GCSE English Literature if required.

Hello! I’m Diane and I teach a variety of Secondary English sessions in the Hub, which currently includes Classic Literature, Modern Literature, Shakespeare, GCSE English Language, Creative Writing and Poetry. I’m a recently retired Secondary Head of English, a current examiner of many years’ experience with some of the major exam boards and I run my own tuition business. I have been teaching since 2004. I’m now based in Somerset, originally from the Midlands but I lived in Cornwall for many years.

  • How do I access the Live sessions?

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration. You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class. The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient

  • How do I contact support?
