  • BUILDS ON PREVIOUS BLOCKS. Description: Theory & Methods. In this block we will review sociological theory, consider theoretical stances on how to conduct research, and explore issues surrounding primary and secondary sources, their benefits and limitations, the use of mixed methods in sociology and analysing and interpreting data. Each aspect will be contextualised looking at a range of areas from the topic content of the GCSE course to help consolidate learning. L/O: - To explain theoretical stances in sociology and how these influence method choices. - To explain the benefits and limitations of primary data and secondary data. - To describe what a mixed methods approach is and when this is appropriate for sociologists. - To analyse and interpret a range of data.
