  • Learning Show Description

No prior knowledge is needed for this block. It works brilliantly as a stand-alone introduction to space and our Solar System, while also providing a strong foundation for future learning about astronomy, space exploration, the Moon, rockets, satellites, and Earth and space science.

Learners who complete this block will be well prepared to explore more advanced topics such as gravity, planetary motion, human spaceflight and the search for life beyond Earth.

🚀 Ready for an out-of-this-world adventure? Buckle up as we blast off on an exciting journey through our Solar System and beyond! 🌍🪐✨

In this action-packed space-themed block, learners will explore the eight planets, discover how rockets work, investigate what astronauts need to survive, and uncover the mysteries of the Moon and the International Space Station.

We’ll build model rockets, create lunar craters, recognise objects in the night sky and learn how the planets orbit the Sun through hands-on activities and interactive challenges.

Perfect for aspiring astronauts, space enthusiasts, home educating families and anyone who has ever looked up at the stars and wondered what’s out there.

Tutor

Carrie Ann .

Science Tutor

My name is Carrie Ann Booth 👩🏼‍🔬🧪💥 and I teach Primary Science, KS3 Science, IGCSE Biology, IGCSE Chemistry and IGCSE Marine Science.
I have a degree in Biochemistry with Science Communication and over 20 years of experience teaching science in schools, online, and through hands-on workshops and shows. Alongside teaching in the hub, I am also the founder of The Science Booth, where I bring science to life for thousands of children each year through explosive demos, practical investigations, and unforgettable learning experiences.
My teaching style is all about “serious science learning… but not too serious!” I believe children learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, get messy, explore ideas, and see the real-world magic of science for themselves. My lessons are energetic, engaging, and full of curiosity, creativity, and wow moments.
Science matters because it shapes the future. Today’s curious children could become tomorrow’s:
👩🏼‍🔬 Doctors
👨🏽‍🔬 Research Scientists
👩🏼‍🔧 Engineers
👨🏻‍💻 Innovators
👩🏾‍🚀 Space Explorers
👨🏼‍🔬 Marine Biologists
👩🏻‍💻 Technology Creators
More than anything, I want children to leave my sessions feeling confident, curious, and excited to learn. If we can inspire children to question, investigate, and think scientifically, those are skills they will carry with them for life… and who knows, we may even inspire a future Nobel Prize winner along the way!
