Content

  • Fashion, Tech and Creative Innovation

Get ready to design, build, stitch, spark, animate and innovate - we’re diving into a world where creativity meets cutting-edge science!

In this hands-on adventure, children become designers, engineers, inventors, and makers as they explore how science and technology shape the things we wear, hear, watch, and create.

We’ll explore the materials behind our clothes in Sustainable Style, uncovering the science of textiles and fashion innovation.

In Sound in Motion, we’ll design sculptures that sing, discovering how vibration and movement create music.

STEAM at Teatime brings surprising science into everyday moments, before we bring drawings to life in Animate It! with cartoons, flipbooks, and stop-motion fun.

Finally, we’ll light up our designs in Circuit Couture, combining creativity and coding-inspired thinking to create wearable tech that truly shines.

From fabrics to flipbooks and circuits to sculptures, this class blends art, engineering, and imagination - showing how science powers creativity in the most unexpected ways!

Tutor

Dr Jo .

Nature Quest & STEAM Explorers Tutor

Hi, I’m Dr Jo – scientist and educator. I teach Nature Quest and STEAM Explorers in the Hub, where we dive into the wonders of science, nature, and creative problem-solving — all through hands-on, creative, curious learning. With a background in science and years of experience in education, I’m passionate about sparking that “wow!” moment in children — whether we’re mixing potions from plants, exploring the changing Earth, or inventing with STEAM. I love helping young learners connect ideas, ask big questions, and explore the world through fun, engaging, and meaningful experiences. When I’m not teaching in the Hub, you might find me delivering workshops, running STEM clubs, developing learning resources, supporting teachers, and training scientists! I can’t wait to welcome you to the adventure — let’s explore, experiment and get inspired by the amazing world around us!

“After a year of mostly science and art, my child has recently started Creative Writing class. From the first lesson I was blown away by the quality of the teaching, the standard of work the children were submitting and the supportive environment of the group. The tutor has a fantastic rapport with her students and it is also so nice (and great for their self-confidence) to see the students give each other great feedback and encouragement.”

Louise, parent

“I would like to say a huge Thank you for your incredible service. Such a brilliant concept and as an ex-teacher I'm very impressed with the quality of teaching, resources, well everything really! My 14year old is like a different child nowadays, wish I had deregistered him years ago in hindsight. Thank you!”

“I just wanted to say thank you so much for all you do at the Hub. It is such a Godsend for us. Our kids are enjoying their lessons, the live interaction with other kids and the lovely, lovely teachers. Where did you find such wonderful, knowledgeable but incredibly patient people?! It’s such a relief our kids can get a tailor made, good quality, British style education even as we live out this slightly crazy life here in the Mexican jungle! Thank you very much to all involved.”
