  • Description: Paper Engineering - Design and Make a Pop-up Book or Theatre (age 6-12) Join Story STEAM to learn about how pop-up books work and how to make your own using paper engineering in this fun and creative project. Each week, we'll learn new pop-up and moving mechanisms that you can try out. What story will your child's pop-up book or theatre tell? Participants will learn: * about pop-up books and why they are so popular * how different card mechanisms create different sorts of movement * about the accurate cutting, scoring, folding and joining techniques needed to produce working, reliable card mechanisms * to develop different graphic styles and match these to the needs of different audiences * to match card mechanisms to the movements they want to achieve in their book, theatre or cards. *optional
