Content

  • In the September block we will be looking at:- Introduction to Drama. This is the first block of theatre studies and subsequent blocks will build on this. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical analysis, learners will gain insights into the various genres, styles, and historical contexts of drama. Students will study an influential play, understanding the intentions of playwrights and the impact of social, cultural, and historical influences on their work. This block also emphasizes the significance of staging, directing, and performing, helping students appreciate the collaborative effort involved in theatrical productions. In addition students will understand the different roles and responsibilities of theatre makers, and understand drama and theatre terminology and how to use it appropriately. Predominantly a theoretical study, although this subject is not a GCSE subject it will compliment the knowledge required to take the Drama GCSE exam.

  • Develop an understanding of dramatic texts and performances. Appreciate the interplay between script, performance, and production elements. Cultivate analytical skills that enable them to critically engage with drama. Enhance their ability to communicate insights and interpretations effectively. Tutor

Rosie .

Performing Arts, Dance, Yoga Tutor

Hi, I’m Rosie, the Performing Arts teacher. I’m a mum of one and I own a Theatre School here where I live in leafy Somerset. I am also a one to one singing teacher and registered to teach in preparation for Musical Theatre LAMDA examination. I spent most of my childhood singing, dancing and acting, going on to study Performing Arts at college and complete a BA Hons in Musical Theatre. After finishing my degree I signed a record contract, and briefly toured as part of a girl band, released 2 singles and performed on a West End stage (‘The Lyric Theatre’ if you are interested) Whilst I no longer perform, I get so much joy from teaching everything I’ve learnt to students in real life at our theatre school and virtually here on the hub.

“We have been taking part in the BSL lessons and the other day had great fun finger spelling while shopping. Two of my children have dyslexia with T being more severe, he hates and refuses spellings. Along comes BSL and he’s loving spellings!” ”

Holly, Parent

“Our family are full time travellers and the hub is a life line for us. The children get to see and speak to adults who show a real interest in their learning and their lives. They get to pick lessons that they are interested in and have fun learning something new. The social hub was a real life line for us too. My 3 have made friends and love getting to chat to children and adults daily too. ”

“I can’t thank you enough for starting this group Amy. You gave me back my happy (not so little anymore) boy. Thanks to this group he’s realised he’s not the stupid, naughty kid that school made him believe he was. His sister is on school holidays and he’s doing recorded lessons by choice. Xxxx ”
