  • Course Description

This block is the first in a series, all blocks must be completed to achieve the award

This series of five learning shows is the perfect starting point for young people beginning their Silver Arts Award journey.

Together, we'll explore what the award involves, what to expect over the year, and how the three further learning show series will help them complete the qualification.

During these sessions, young people will choose an art form they are excited to develop, design a personal arts challenge, and create a realistic plan to help them achieve it. The challenge itself takes place outside the learning shows, supported by lessons with a professional practitioner or other learning opportunities. The focus is on growth, curiosity and developing skills over time - celebrating progress rather than perfection.

  • Young people will also have access to a supportive WhatsApp community throughout the programme, offering encouragement and a space to ask questions.

In Week 6, there will be an optional live session where participants are invited to share their ideas and work, celebrate their progress, and seek guidance on any questions they may have as they continue their Arts Award journey.

Tutor

Lydia .

Fashion and Art Tutor

Hi! I’m Lydia and I teach Art, Fashion, Crochet, Knit and Embroidery in the hub and love every second of it.
You’ll also find me in the Social Pods running activities, which I’m super excited about. It’s so lovely to talk to the wonderful members in the hub about their hobbies and interests and see their confidence grow as they form friendships.
I’ve been a Secondary School teacher for 14 years but made the decision to leave the classroom this year and focus on teaching sessions that encourage fun, creativity and learning without limit.
