Content

  • Learning Show Description

    In this fascinating five-week history project, learners will step back in time to explore the lives of children during Victorian Britain.

    Through research, discussion, source analysis and creative activities, pupils will discover the jobs Victorian children undertook, the conditions they worked in, and how prominent individuals and laws gradually improved life for children.

    By the end of the unit, learners will compare Victorian childhood with their own experiences and complete all requirements for the AQA Unit Award Scheme.

  • Course Objectives

    Demonstrated the ability to 1. research and present information about at least two different jobs for Victorian children

    2. describe the typical working hours for a Victorian child

    3. describe the working conditions faced by a Victorian child

    4. compare Victorian life as a child to life today and state at least two ways in which conditions have changed

    Shown knowledge of

    5. the dates relating to the Victorian era

    6. the eras prior to and after the Victorian era

    7. at least two Acts of Parliament, including work and health, which impacted on Victorian society.

Hiya everyone, I’m Stacey. I’m a primary school teacher from Nottinghamshire.
Currently I teach year 6 and have done for the last 6 years as once you’re in they don’t tend to let you out. 😂 I have also taught in years 3 and 5. The best part about my job is watching those lightbulb moments where children just get it! I love watching them grow in confidence from the beginning to the end of a lesson!
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and taking my Spanish rescue dog , Lila, on long treks through the woods! We’ve found many deer but never any bears on our hunts!
