Content

  • Fractions

In this exciting five lesson journey into fractions, children will become confident fraction finders as they explore halves, quarters, and thirds through hands on, real life maths adventures.

The unit begins with practical activities that get pupils folding, cutting, sharing, and discovering what it really means to split something into equal parts.

They'll halve paper pizzas, quarter amounts and share counters and cubes between friends to uncover patterns and relationships between fractions.

As their confidence grows, children begin to find fractions of numbers and compare different fractions, discovering for themselves that two quarters are the same as one half!

Each lesson is filled with opportunities for discussion, reasoning, and problem solving, helping pupils not just do fractions, but truly understand them.

By the end of the unit, every child will see fractions all around them, including in the Kahoot quizzes that we will play every week!
