  • The Great Maths Expedition

    The Great Maths Expedition
    Grab your compass, pack your mathematical toolkit and get ready for The Great Maths Expedition!
    In this exciting maths block, children will become Maths Explorers, travelling through a series of challenging territories where they'll need to use the four operations — addition, subtraction, multiplication and division — to overcome obstacles, uncover hidden clues and complete expedition challenges.
    Each lesson will introduce a key mathematical skill, building confidence and accuracy before students put their knowledge to the test in increasingly challenging, real-life scenarion and apply their learning in a kahoot quiz at the end of each lesson.

  • Course Objectives:

    • Add and subtract whole numbers with more than 4 digits using formal written methods.
    • Perform mental calculations, including mixed operations and calculations involving large numbers.
    • Multiply numbers up to four digits by one- or two-digit numbers.
    • Divide numbers up to four digits by a one-digit number and interpret remainders appropriately.
    • Solve addition and subtraction multi-step problems in different contexts.
    • Apply knowledge of the four operations and the order of operations to solve calculations.
    • Solve multi-step problems involving all four operations, deciding which operations to use and explaining why.

Hiya everyone, I’m Stacey. I’m a primary school teacher from Nottinghamshire.
Currently I teach year 6 and have done for the last 6 years as once you’re in they don’t tend to let you out. 😂 I have also taught in years 3 and 5. The best part about my job is watching those lightbulb moments where children just get it! I love watching them grow in confidence from the beginning to the end of a lesson!
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and taking my Spanish rescue dog , Lila, on long treks through the woods! We’ve found many deer but never any bears on our hunts!
