  • Description: Fun with Fractions. During this block of Fun with Fractions we will be covering the Y5 and Y6 national curriculum objectives for Fractions and recapping the Y4 objectives. We will learn how to identify, name and write equivalent fractions of a given fraction using visual aids and practical ideas. We will recap adding and subtracting fractions and move on to multiplying and dividing We will recap mixed numbers and improper fractions, learning how to convert between the two. We will use common denominators to be able to compare and order fractions We will find fractions of numbers understanding that if 1/4 of a number is 36 then the whole number is 36 x 4 =144. L/O: To be able to identify name and write equivalent fractions, to be able to add subtract multiply and divide fractions (with the same denominator and different) To be able to convert between improper fractions and mixed numbers To be able to use common denominators to compare and order fractions and mixed numbers To be able to find fractions of a whole number and a whole number from a given fraction.
