  • Masters of Measure - Area, Perimeter and Volume Quest

    Get ready to become a Measurement Master!

    In this exciting maths block, we will dive into area, perimeter and volume through fun, interactive maths lessons with games, challenges, matching activities and an epic maths escape room.

    Learners won’t just practise calculations: we will solve real-life problems, crack codes and explain our thinking like true mathematicians.

    Perfect for pupils who want to build confidence, sharpen problem-solving skills and enjoy thinking and working mathematically.

  • Course Objectives:

    Perimeter

    Understand perimeter as the distance around a shape

    Calculate the perimeter of rectangles and compound shapes and apply perimeter calculations to real-life contexts

    Area

    Understand area as the amount of space a shape covers

    Calculate the area of rectangles using multiplication

    Find the area of compound shapes by splitting them into smaller rectangles

    Compare shapes with the same area but different perimeters

    Volume

    Understand volume as the amount of space inside a 3D shape

    Calculate the volume of cubes and cuboids using counting and formulas

    Compare volumes and explain which shapes hold more

    Reasoning & Problem Solving

    Choose appropriate strategies to solve multi-step measurement problems

    Explain mathematical thinking using correct vocabulary

Hiya everyone, I’m Stacey. I’m a primary school teacher from Nottinghamshire. Currently I teach year 6 and have done for the last 6 years as once you’re in they don’t tend to let you out. 😂 I have also taught in years 3 and 5. The best part about my job is watching those lightbulb moments where children just get it! I love watching them grow in confidence from the beginning to the end of a lesson! Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and taking my Spanish rescue dog , Lila, on long treks through the woods! We’ve found many deer but never any bears on our hunts!
