Content

  • Place Value Powerhouse!

    Our first block of the new academic year where we will be Exploring Big Numbers, Small Decimals, and Everything In Between.

    We will explore the place value of numbers up to 10 million, identifying the value of each digit.

    We will understand how to round numbers, explore negative numbers and reason and problem solve with place value applying our learning in different contexts.

    Lessons will include fluency, reasoning and problem solving as well as challenges and each lesson will feature an application quiz at the end to apply our new learning.

  • Course Objectives:

    Year 5

    Read, write, order and compare numbers to at least 1,000,000.

    Count forwards or backwards in steps of powers of 10.

    Interpret negative numbers in context. Round any number up to 1,000,000.

    Year 6

    Read, write, order and compare numbers up to 10,000,000.

    Identify the value of each digit.

    Round any whole number.

    Use negative numbers in context.

    Solve number and practical problems.

Hiya everyone, I’m Stacey. I’m a primary school teacher from Nottinghamshire. Currently I teach year 6 and have done for the last 6 years as once you’re in they don’t tend to let you out. 😂 I have also taught in years 3 and 5. The best part about my job is watching those lightbulb moments where children just get it! I love watching them grow in confidence from the beginning to the end of a lesson! Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and taking my Spanish rescue dog , Lila, on long treks through the woods! We’ve found many deer but never any bears on our hunts!
