Content

  • Sentence Builders

    Become a super sentence builder in our next writing block of the year.

    During this exciting block, we will develop our sentence writing skills through building and up-levelling sentences from simple sentences to compound, complex, multi clausal sentences.

    We will focus on writing effectively for our reader using a range of grammatical techniques for specific purposes.

    We will use our newly-learned skills to complete short bursts of themed writing where we can showcase different grammatical features for effect meanwhile developing our use of accurate and effective punctuation.

  • Course Objectives:

    To use authors writing as models for our own.

    Learn to uplevel sentences using specific grammatical techniques for purpose and effect.

    Identify simple, compound and complex sentences including main and subordinate clauses.

    Use a range of sentence openers - verb (ed/ing) adverb/ adverbial and prepositional phrases.

    To experiment with sentence structure for effect.

    To identify word classes and choose synonyms of chosen words to uplevel sentences.

    To use relative clauses to add detail to nouns using the correct punctuation.

    Pen/ pencil/ paper/ scissors and glue.

Hiya everyone, I’m Stacey. I’m a primary school teacher from Nottinghamshire. Currently I teach year 6 and have done for the last 6 years as once you’re in they don’t tend to let you out. 😂 I have also taught in years 3 and 5. The best part about my job is watching those lightbulb moments where children just get it! I love watching them grow in confidence from the beginning to the end of a lesson! Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and taking my Spanish rescue dog , Lila, on long treks through the woods! We’ve found many deer but never any bears on our hunts!
