Content

  • Watch and learn from iconic dance scenes in movies and music videos. Each week, analyze a different film or music video. Learn and create choreography inspired by the style. For the first half of the class we will learn about, and watch, iconic dance scenes from films, TV and music video. We'll discuss the historical and cultural impact and open up a discussion amongst the group about out thoughts on the piece. We'll then run through a warm up, stretch routine and dance moves related to the style. Then we will have a piece of music from that film/music video or tv and students will put together their own short piece of choreography (their own dance moves), with the opportunity to show it within the class. Then we'll finish with a short routine combining the moves learnt earlier.

  • Rhythmic Mastery: Develop the ability to dance in sync with the rhythm of popular music, enhancing coordination and timing. Choreography Proficiency: Learn and master dynamic dance routines inspired by pop stars, including iconic moves and sequences. Dance Styles Exploration: Explore various dance styles commonly seen in pop music, such as hip-hop, jazz, and contemporary. Body Awareness: Improve body awareness, flexibility, and strength through dance movements that promote fitness and well-being. Creative Expression: Encourage students to express their own unique style within the framework of popular dance routines. Character and Storytelling Artistic Appreciation: Cultivate an appreciation for the art of dance in pop culture, studying and discussing famous pop star performances. Fun and Enjoyment

Tutor

Rosie .

Performing Arts, Dance, Yoga Tutor

Hi, I’m Rosie, the Performing Arts teacher. I’m a mum of one and I own a Theatre School here where I live in leafy Somerset. I am also a one to one singing teacher and registered to teach in preparation for Musical Theatre LAMDA examination. I spent most of my childhood singing, dancing and acting, going on to study Performing Arts at college and complete a BA Hons in Musical Theatre. After finishing my degree I signed a record contract, and briefly toured as part of a girl band, released 2 singles and performed on a West End stage (‘The Lyric Theatre’ if you are interested) Whilst I no longer perform, I get so much joy from teaching everything I’ve learnt to students in real life at our theatre school and virtually here on the hub.

Claire, Parent

“We have been taking part in the BSL lessons and the other day had great fun finger spelling while shopping. Two of my children have dyslexia with T being more severe, he hates and refuses spellings. Along comes BSL and he’s loving spellings!” ”

Holly, Parent

“Our family are full time travellers and the hub is a life line for us. The children get to see and speak to adults who show a real interest in their learning and their lives. They get to pick lessons that they are interested in and have fun learning something new. The social hub was a real life line for us too. My 3 have made friends and love getting to chat to children and adults daily too. ”

“I can’t thank you enough for starting this group Amy. You gave me back my happy (not so little anymore) boy. Thanks to this group he’s realised he’s not the stupid, naughty kid that school made him believe he was. His sister is on school holidays and he’s doing recorded lessons by choice. Xxxx ”
