Content

  • PLEASE NOTE: This is a 4 week block - there will be no session on Thursday 4th July. - - - - - - - - What can teenagers do this summer... to earn money now and in the future? Don't 'waste' the summer ahead. In this block of Careers & Next Steps at the £2 Tuition Hub, career coach, consultant and content creator Gina Visram is looking forward to helping participants learn to earn, through their increased understanding of themselves and the world of work. Having large concentrated times of 'freedom' from school and/or home education can provide ample opportunity to build and recognise employability / transferable skills that will be of huge benefit in the coming years when it comes to applying for jobs and/or building businesses. At the end of course there will also be a money making challenge set for the summer, for anyone who wants to immediately implement what they learn.

  • In this "Learn to earn" block, participants start to recognise how powerful each summer is when it comes to their career development and future potential. Activities done in the summer break have the potential to positively impact how they build employability and transferable skills. Topics will include: - An introduction to the concept of "money mindset" - Recognition of the power of time - Introduction / reminder of employability / transferable skills - Generating ideas about how to earn money - Money making challenge for the summer

Careers Tutor

Hello The £2 Tuition Hub (Home Ed Group) community 👋🏽 – my name is Gina and I am new to this awesome space. I’ll be delivering the sessions on “CAREERS AND NEXT STEPS” and look forward to connecting with some of your kiddos there. I thought I’d share some of my background and then let you know what your teen can expect if they join this course. I am a qualified careers guidance professional (career coach, consultant and content creator) with a mission to support students and graduates on their journey from education to employment and entrepreneurship in a spirit of fun and optimism, not fear and overwhelm! (I am keen to stress the “fun” point ) By day, I have a portfolio career myself – all centred around career support and guidance. I work 4 days a week as Head of Careers in a secondary school in London; work 1 day a week as a freelance careers consultant (at some times of the year) at the London School of Economics and have my business, Your Career And Future alongside that (in which I enjoy creating careers content accessible to all via my Dive Into Your Career podcast and yourcareerandfuture on TikTok). I encourage people to create lives they will love and think active career development can be an ingredient in that! Careers support can be hit or miss even in mainstream education – and for some in the home education space maybe, just maybe there is sometimes a gap in that “futures” piece (Though there’s a chance it’s the opposite for you and you already integrate it in your child’s home learning!) Either way – as someone who believes careers and futures is a lifelong journey as we have so many twists and turns ahead in our squiggly careers, I am excited to create a space of learning, discussion and action around: 💫 What is a career really (and is it true that I am already on a journey?!) 💫 Careers curiosity and exploration in a spirit of fun (imaginations welcome and encouraged!) 💫 How to research / discover (traditional, unusual and future focused) careers and next step possibilities 💫 Post-16 and Post-18 options – including university, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship and more 💫 Employability skills (and understanding how existing activities and hobbies are already building those) 💫 Making decisions (with an emphasis of freedom to know those decisions are for now, not forever!) 💫 and… I am also open to being guided by the group, taking and answering questions to ensure that anyone feeling stuck or overwhelmed knows they have additional support here (while making sure they become increasingly excited and empowered to find some of their own answers)

“Fantastic group has helped us through 3+ years of home ed, wish we knew of you before that when we first started ”

Sharon, Parent

“This group is without doubt an absolute blessing. Fantastic classes with amazing teachers at an extremely reasonable price. I for one am so thankful to you and your team for everything you all do. We appreciate the hub so much and are very grateful xx ”

Claire, Parent

“We have been taking part in the BSL lessons and the other day had great fun finger spelling while shopping. Two of my children have dyslexia with T being more severe, he hates and refuses spellings. Along comes BSL and he’s loving spellings!” ”

Holly, Parent

“Our family are full time travellers and the hub is a life line for us. The children get to see and speak to adults who show a real interest in their learning and their lives. They get to pick lessons that they are interested in and have fun learning something new. The social hub was a real life line for us too. My 3 have made friends and love getting to chat to children and adults daily too. ”

Donna, Parent

“I can’t thank you enough for starting this group Amy. You gave me back my happy (not so little anymore) boy. Thanks to this group he’s realised he’s not the stupid, naughty kid that school made him believe he was. His sister is on school holidays and he’s doing recorded lessons by choice. Xxxx ”
