Content

  • In our next year 5/6 English block we will be writing for pleasure- enjoying writing for a range of purposes and sharing/ performing our creative writing. To inspire us to write a range of writing types, we will watch the thought-provoking film clip TREASURE. This short film tells the tale of the main character – Esther- who lives in tip, where she finds what she considers to be treasure. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Within this writing unit we will be producing first person narrative style writing – diary/ recount; newspaper article, a poem, description, an inner monologue. We will think about how writing using grammatical devices including hyperbole and exaggeration to enhance writing.

  • Plan writing by identifying purpose and using models for their own composition. Note and develop initial ideas, collect/ select effective vocabulary and grammar to enhance meaning. Describe settings, characters and atmosphere within narrative writing and incorporate speech. Use a range of cohesive devices within and across paragraphs. Assess the effectiveness of their own and others writing correcting and perfecting in the editing / evaluating process.

Tutor

Stacey .

Year 5/6 Tutor

Hiya everyone, I’m Stacey. I’m a primary school teacher from Nottinghamshire. Currently I teach year 6 and have done for the last 6 years as once you’re in they don’t tend to let you out. 😂 I have also taught in years 3 and 5. The best part about my job is watching those lightbulb moments where children just get it! I love watching them grow in confidence from the beginning to the end of a lesson! Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and taking my Spanish rescue dog , Lila, on long treks through the woods! We’ve found many deer but never any bears on our hunts!

“I can’t thank you enough for starting this group Amy. You gave me back my happy (not so little anymore) boy. Thanks to this group he’s realised he’s not the stupid, naughty kid that school made him believe he was. His sister is on school holidays and he’s doing recorded lessons by choice. Xxxx ”

“This group is without doubt an absolute blessing. Fantastic classes with amazing teachers at an extremely reasonable price. I for one am so thankful to you and your team for everything you all do. We appreciate the hub so much and are very grateful xx ”

Claire, Parent

“Our family are full time travellers and the hub is a life line for us. The children get to see and speak to adults who show a real interest in their learning and their lives. They get to pick lessons that they are interested in and have fun learning something new. The social hub was a real life line for us too. My 3 have made friends and love getting to chat to children and adults daily too. ”

Donna, Parent

“£2 tuition hub was the best resource I found my entire time home educating. I’m still currently using the £2 Hub 3 years later”

Maxine, Parent

“Fantastic group has helped us through 3+ years of home ed, wish we knew of you before that when we first started ”

Sharon, Parent

“We have been taking part in the BSL lessons and the other day had great fun finger spelling while shopping. Two of my children have dyslexia with T being more severe, he hates and refuses spellings. Along comes BSL and he’s loving spellings!” ”
